Farewell

Grief is felt whenever family members would have to say goodbye to their beloved pets. I’d like to share another heart-warming story with you all during this cold night.

On the 28th of October, four family members came to Pet to Nature to mourn for their pet, BB. The parents held hands with their children when one of their children asked, “What is this place?”

The mother smiled, held the child’s hand and whispered, “We are saying our goodbyes. BB is in a peaceful and happy place.” “Okay, we wish for BB to have a comfortable life. We miss him and wish he would come back and celebrate with us during Children’s Day and Christmas!” the children said innocently.

At the end of the farewell ceremony, as the conveyor belt moved forward on the road to heaven, I noticed how the mother tried to hold back her tears. She tried her best to smile so that she could stay positive in front of the children and as a family, they said their goodbyes to BB.

I couldn’t help but cry at that moment since I realized that it takes more courage to smile than to cry during a situation such as this. I saw how the mother tried to be brave for her children even though she was also in pain.

BB will continue to watch over the children as a plant and I’m sure that when the children are older, they will understand its significance. The support of family members truly made the farewell less sad and more meaningful.
